VARENS BESKRIVELSE

Forord The Working Environment - when Welding and Themal Cutting Preface This a translation of the 11th edition of ?Arbejdsmiljø og sikkerhed ved arbejde medsvejsning og termisk skæring?.This compendium is used for the special § 17 working environment training course for welding and thermal cutting in metallic material, including mild steel/unalloyed steel, stainless steel and aluminium. For many years the training course has been called § 26 training course but adjustments in the executive order have changed the paragraph number to § 17.Following the Executive Order no. 1795 of 18 December 2015 by The Danish Working Environment Authority with subsequent amendments on Measures to Protect Workers from Risks related to Exposure to Carcinogenic Substances and Materials at Work, welding and thermal cutting can only be carried out by persons having passed a special training course on occupational health and safety, the former so-called § 26 training course that from now will be called § 17 training course.Metal refers to all metallic materials, including mild steel/unalloyed steel, stainless steel and other alloyed steel types, aluminium and aluminium alloys, copper etc. Hence, the demand of passing the § 26/17 training course applies to all welding and cutting jobs regardless of the material. The § 26/17 training course has formerly been compulsory only for persons working with stainless steel, but in 2003 the training course was made compulsory for everybody whose job includes welding, thermal cutting and grinding, regardless of the material. The requirement of working environment education and training results from the fact that welding and cutting processes may develop air pollution which is seen as contributing to the increased risk of cancer. As a result it is important that anyone who welds and cuts is aware of the health risk and are familiar with the preventive measures used at the work place to protect the workers against exposure to harmful substances. The content of the compendium mainly focuses on the most important effects on the working environment and risks to health when welding and thermal cutting, including air pollution, optical radiation, electrical safety, as well as measures and rules regarding welding and thermal cutting. Furthermore, the book includes information on authorities, organisations, etc. for further information. The compendium is a revised edition of the previous § 26 compendium on welding in stainless steel. The compendium is produced by FORCE Technology for Praxis - Erhvervsskolernes Forlag and Industriens Arbejdsmarkedsuddannelser (IAU). Erik Beck Hansen, FORCE TechnologyOdense, March 2006. Preface, 3rd editionThe content of this 3th edition is identical to 11th edition of the Danish version and therefore you will se many changes when you compare this edition to
