Originally published in 1787, this work by the utilitarian philosopher and jurist Jeremy Bentham (1748–1832) champions 'the liberty of making one's own terms in money bargains' and argues against government control of the rate of interest. It includes a letter to Adam Smith in response to his Wealth of Nations (1776).
