Distinguished archaeologist David G. Hogarth (1862–1927) had his first experience of excavation at a site in Cyprus in 1888. In this 1889 book he describes his travels through the island after the excavation, and includes illustrations of the objects, inscriptions and buildings he encountered during his journey.
