The German linguist Heymann Steinthal (1823–99) taught at the University of Berlin (today Humboldt-University Berlin) and was especially engaged with Humboldt's linguistic works. In this book, published in 1855, Steinthal proposes an innovatory connection between linguistics and psychology, and relates them to the issue of logic.
