Beskrivelse

The book consists of 22 articles written by musical scholars and ethnologists from all over Europe. The contributions are concerned with the study of music traditions within various ethnic groups and they throw light on the historical processes behind the ´traditional´ music of today. The articles are divided in two themes: Traditional Music between Urban and Rural Communities and Music and Working. Further, they concentrate on specific geographical areas such as the Baltic, Central Europe, the Balkans and the Borderlines and Outside Europe. The articles are written in English and German.
