Inuit - Magical masks and figures Greenland's prehistory, which can be traced back more than 4,500 years, and centres around five different cultural periods: the culture of independence I-II, the Saqqaq culture, the Dorset culture, the Norsemen and the Thule culture. All five cultures are described and finds from the three most recent cultural periods are depicted in the book: face masks, hand-held masks, leather masks, house masks, hood masks, figures, tupilaks and objects from the Norsemen. Leif Birger Holmstedt describes the function performed by the various finds in the lives of Greenlanders. Leif Birger Holmstedt is also the author of “African Masks, 2008, Magiske masker og figurer fra Grønland.
