Blinded at the age of twenty-five, Henry Fawcett (1833–84) faced enormous challenges but refused to abandon his career ambitions. By 1863 he was a Cambridge professor, and in 1865 became a radical Liberal MP. This lively biography by his college friend, the literary critic Leslie Stephen, appeared in 1885.
