The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This 1863 volume contains an English translation of the Latin account by Jordanus, a Dominican missionary, of the landscapes and peoples he encountered on his journey overland to India about 1330.
