In the summer of 1861 the German geologist and zoologist Carl Vogt (1817–95) travelled with a small private party along the Norwegian coast to the North Cape and to Iceland. This account, published in 1863, describes his experiences, and includes illustrations by Heinrich Hasselhorst, another member of the group.
