Josephine Elizabeth Butler (1828–1906) was a prominent English feminist. This volume, first published in 1896, contains Butler's memoirs of her campaigns against the Contagious Diseases Acts and child prostitution, and provides a unique insight into the moral and political opposition to the Acts and the methods of her campaign.
