Margaret Heitland (1860–1938), née Bateson, a journalist active in the suffrage movement, was the daughter of William Henry Bateson, Master of St John's College, Cambridge. These fascinating conversations with a variety of Victorian professional women first appeared in The Queen and were published in book form in 1895.
