Beskrivelse

A deeply moving and mind-expanding collection of personal essays in the first ever work of non-fiction from #1 internationally bestselling author John Green. The Anthropocene is the current geological age, in which human activity has profoundly shaped the planet and its biodiversity. In this remarkable symphony of essays adapted and expanded from his ground-breaking, critically acclaimed podcast, John Green reviews different facets of the human-centered planet - from the QWERTY keyboard and Halley's Comet to Penguins of Madagascar - on a five-star scale. Complex and rich with detail, the Anthropocene's reviews have been praised as 'observations that double as exercises in memoiristic empathy', with over 10 million lifetime downloads. John Green's gift for storytelling shines throughout this artfully curated collection about the shared human experience; it includes beloved essays along with six all-new pieces exclusive to the book.

En livsændrende oplevelse - du vil ikke kunne se på græs som du gjorde før

I have a problem. Correction, I have many problems; I think too much about too many things, I'm a bad listener and I spend too much time on things that doesn't matter. But I digress, my problem, relevant to this is, I listen to too many podcasts. I have too many to comfortably look at my grid of shows, and therefore I rarely browse my own selected "want-to-listen-to's". The only exception to this is The Anthropocene Reviewed and 99% invisible. Whereas the latter makes me want to do everything at once, The Anthropocene Reviewed makes me want to do nothing but experience this World, in which we all float through our existence. This podcast can touch parts of my being that I almost never see, but I adore those parts, and the mindset I find myself in, while listening, is treasured beyond measure.

If I could only listen to one thing throughout the rest of my time on spaceship Earth, it would be this. I return to some episodes even though... No Because every time i listen, i weep for the beauty I can find in the phenomena described, the language describing them or the care with which the language is formed in the description.

For me to review this piece of art, to langua-fy the way it makes me feel and what it communicates to me, is almost a crime. The languafication may render this wonderful corner in the world banal, but John Green asked. And after I have enjoyed his podcast beyond measure, who am I to deny him his only request in return.
