Originally published in 1930, this book presents an account of the 1567 events at Kirk o' Field which led to the murder of Lord Darnley and the subsequent incrimination of his wife, Mary, Queen of Scots. The author puts forward a view based around Mary's innocence, analysing 'sources of information in France, Germany, and Italy, of which little use had previously been made'.
