The books that Calouste Gulbenkian have collected include a series of illuminated manuscripts from Europe, purchased between 1919 and 1937, whose coherence amid striking nuance make them outstanding examples.

The catalogue includes pieces of exceptional quality from the various periods when art in pharaonic Egypt was at its height and, not only covers the pieces on display at the Museum, but also those kept in the storeroom.
