Nathaniel Wraxall (1751–1831) travelled extensively in Europe and moved in royal and diplomatic circles. In this 1799 two-volume work in epistolary form, he recalls his visits to a number of courts in the late 1770s. In Volume 2, Wraxall discusses the decline of Poland, and the Habsburg Empire.
