A great read for managers
If you want to strengthen your management skills and prevent stress in the workplace, then Mindful Leadership is an obvious choice for reading.
The aim of the book is to present mindfulness as a tool for bettering your management skills, which it does in an easily read and simple way.
The book is divided into two parts, the first being an introduction to the basic principles, and the second part introducing the reader to ten exercises that will aid in creating some peace in a hectic work environment. This makes it easy to use when it is time to utilize the exercises.
The exercises are created with the aim of building more focus by for instance concentrating on breathing or shutting out all the stressful thoughts, and only focusing on what is going on in the moment. Furthermore, the exercises are simple and easy to perform at home as well as in the workplace, which makes it easier for someone who might be new to the field, to try it out without difficulty.
In my opinion the best chapter in the book, is the one about ethics. This chapter really underlines how mindfulness can contribute to creating a good and inspirational manager. The chapter discusses integrity and the ego, and how a good manager deals with conflicts without losing their temper. This is in my opinion an especially interesting and positive take on which qualities a good manager should possess.
A simple, good, and relevant read for the managers who wish to improve themselves.
