Alfred Thayer Mahan (1840–1914) was an American naval officer and highly influential naval strategist. In this two-volume biography, first published in 1897, Mahan provides a detailed historical and tactical analysis of Nelson's career, and explores the influential concept of 'sea power'. Volume 2 covers the years 1799–1805.
