Norwegian explorer Carl Lumholtz (1851–1922) wrote the influential ethnographic studies Among Cannibals and Unknown Mexico after his journeys through Australia and Mexico. This two-volume account of his last expedition was originally published in 1920. Volume 2 includes a chapter on head-hunting and observations on the folklore of different tribes.
