Arabic Proverbs: Or the Manners and Customs of the Modern Egyptians, Illustrated from Their Proverbial Sayings Current at Cairo, Translated and Explained (Bog, Hardback, Engelsk)First published in 1830, is a collection of proverbial sayings, originally compiled by Sheref Addin Ibn Asad, in Cairo, at the beginning of the 18th century. Burkhardt translated these sayings in hope that they might 'interest and gratify the Orientalist'.
